The First Engineering Branch Office announced that a 1,200-meter stretch of the northbound outer lane on Freeway 1, between kilometer markers 35k+300 and 34k+100 at the Wugu Interchange in Wugu District, will be temporarily closed for off-ramp lane adjustment work. Other lanes will remain open during this period.
Wugu District, New Taipei City — The northbound outermost lane ( the 5th lane) on Freeway 1 between kilometer markers 35k+300 and 34k+100 will be closed from Monday, August 18 to Thursday, August 21, 2025, between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. each night for construction related to off-ramp lane adjustments. The closure aims to improve traffic safety, according to the construction crew.

1. Motorists traveling the northbound on Freeway 1 heading to Wugu Interchange off-ramp should use the 2 outer lanes at the end of long steep Linkou slope, it's about the kilometer markers 37k, and proceed straight through the Freeway Bureau ramp to the Wugu off-ramp.
2. Vehicles descending from Xizhi-Yangmei Elevated at Wugu Intermediate Transfer off-ramp heading to Wugu Interchange should should stay in the left lane on the ramp before merging onto the main ground level lanes. (see Figure 1)
Starting at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, the outermost lane ( the 5th lane) from 35k+300 to 34k+100 will be permanently closed. Motorists traveling northbound on Freeway 1 toward Wugu and Taishan should stay in the right lanes in advance at kilometer markers 37k and continue within the two outer lanes. Vehicles descending from the Xizhi-Yangmei Elevated at the Wugu Intermediate Transfer off-ramp heading to Wugu Interchange should merge to the right lane at ground level and use either the Freeway Bureau ramp or the newly constructed northbound exit ramp to reach their destination (see Figure 2).
Motorists should expect delays and are strongly encouraged to consider alternate routes. Nighttime work schedules are subject to change due to weather or other construction factors.
