Nightly Closure of All Southbound Lanes on Freeway 3 Between Zhonghe and Tucheng

Tucheng District, New Taipei City – The First Engineering Branch Office has announced the nightly closure of all southbound lanes on Freeway 3 between Zhonghe and Tucheng Interchanges to facilitate the installation of safety facilities on new elevated ramp bridge crossing over the freeway mainline lanes.
The closure will take place from Monday night, April 13, through Thursday night, April 16, 2026, between 11 pm and 6 am the following morning.
These nighttime closures are essential to ensure safety while construction crews carry out 4 consecutive nights of the safety facility installation work. During this period, the southbound on-ramp at Zhonghe Interchange and the eastbound exit ramp of 台 64 at Zhonghe Interchange will also be closed. Motorists are advised to follow the designated detours. The Office emphasizes that the temporary lane restrictions are necessary to protect both workers and motorists.
Detours and Traffic Control
Traffic management measures will be in place, and a detour map has been provided for motorists.
1. Southbound motorists on Freeway 3 should exit at Zhonghe Interchange and follow local roads to reach the Tucheng Interchange of Freeway 3.
2. Drivers traveling from Banqiao District and Xinzhuang District via the 台 64 elevated viaduct toward southbound of Freeway 3 are advised to descend to the ground-level roadway and follow local routes to their destinations.
3. Motorists entering Freeway 3 southbound from Zhonghe District are encouraged to use local roads as an alternate route to the Tucheng Interchange of Freeway 3.
Expect Delays and Plan Ahead
Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and plan alternate routes in advance. The construction schedule may be adjusted depending on weather conditions or on-site progress.
Drivers planning to head south through the Zhonghe section are encouraged to pass the area before 11 pm to avoid congestion. All motorists are reminded to follow the instructions of traffic control personnel, observe on-site signage, and stay alert for updates displayed on Changeable Message Signs (CMS).
